Day 27: Two days off.
Updated: 4:15 p.m.
PEORIA, Ariz. — Hey friends, I’ll be at the SABR (Society of American Baseball Research) analytics convention this weekend and am not sure how much blogging will take place.
That said, here’s some information for the weekend:
Saturday vs. Royals: Luebke, Suppan, Street, Boxberger.
Sunday at Giants: Volquez, Cashner, Thatcher, Frieri, Thayer, Owings.
Sunday at Rockies (in Tucson): Bass, Kelly, Spence, Boxberger, Hinshaw.
If you watch Saturday’s game on Fox Sports San Diego, you’ll see yours truly and Dick Enberg talking about the National League West and the Padres. You, you know, set your DVR’s for that.
— C Nick Hundley has a sore right side. Doesn’t sound like anything too big. Could see him get a few days off (and Monday is an off-day anyway).
— 2B Orlando Hudson (groin) and OF Carlos Quentin (sore right knee) are all progressing along. Could see them get the weekend and Monday off as well.
— RHP Nick Vincent, who sprained his left ankle stepping on a ball in the bullpen Wednesday in Goodyear, has been moved over to Minor League camp. There are now 47 players left in camp.
— The Padres were down 6-0 to the Angels on Friday but came back to win 8-7 thanks in large part to a eight-run seventh inning.
