Day 19: First look at Volquez today

PEORIA, Ariz. — Hey friends, it’s an off day here for me so it will be a quiet blog day.

That said, the details for today’s game are listed below.

Sounds like Jason Bartlett will run the bases today to test his sore right knee. Also, Logan Forsythe tested out his left foot (broken bone, but can play on it, though there’s discomfort) yesterday and will do so again today. The team is hoping he can return to the field but surgery is still a very possible option. Also, Chase Headley (tight lower back) could see action in games by the weekend.

According to my buddy Andy Masur, the reports on today’s starter, Edinson Volquez, have been good. Bud Black said this morning that Volquez is in a good place mentally and physically.

Here’s the details on today’s game against the Giants:

San Francisco (3-2) at San Diego (1-4) 12:05 p.m. PT Peoria Sports Complex

Radio/TV: XX 1090 (Andy Masur, Jerry Coleman, Bob Scanlan). Tune in at noon.

The lineups: Cabrera 8, Hudson 4, Guzman 3, Blanks 9, Alonso 3, Darnell 5, Grandal 2, Hermida 0, Parrino 6.

The pitchers :Volquez (2), Bass (2), Frieri, Boxberger, Burns, Owings (1 or 2).
