WBC boys are back …

Just passed through the clubhouse early this morning and saw Edgar Gonzalez so I think it’s safe to assume that the Padres contingent from Team Mexico, eliminated from the WBC on Monday, are all back here in Peoria and ready to resume Cactus League play.

I’ll try to catch up with Hermanos Gonzalez and Scott Hairston this morning to see what their WBC experience was like.

I did a radio interview with XX Sports back in San Diego last night with Coach Kentera. Good dude. We talked Padres for quite a while.

Today’s lineup:

3B, Chris Burke
2B, David Eckstein
DH, Cliff Floyd
LF, Emil Brown
RF, Chris Snelling
1B, Kyle Blanks, possibly coming to an outfield near you?
CF, Will Venable
C, Nick Hundley
SS, Everth Cabrera
SP, Cesar Ramos (scheduled to go three innings), followed by Jae Kuk Ryu 2, Arturo Lopez 1, Edwin Moreno 1, Joe Thatcher 1 and Matt Buschmann 1.

Update: Reliever Mark Worrell, expected to contend for a spot in the bullpen, is experiencing with right elbow soreness. Manager Bud Black said if the soreness persists, the team might have to put Worrell through some tests. At the very least, we won’t see him for several days.

Cheers, Corey

Ooh, I’m glad the Gonzalez boys are back! It will be nice to have their bats back in the lineup, but I kind of feel bad for Blanks. But wow, he got a lot of playing time!!

Blanks definitely made the most of his time! It’s great to see that all indications point to him being legit!!
