Back to blogging …
Hey, it’s nice to be back after getting my first days off since arriving in Arizona. Good times, got some laundry done, took the dog to the dog park and got gas at Costco. I know, wild times for the married guy.
I did manage to talk a little baseball with Coach Kentera. Here’s the link for that if you’re interested. I also talked to a couple of Padres yesterday about having Dodgers’ outfielder Manny Ramirez back in the National League West. Take a look at what he did against the Padres in nine games.
Anyway, back to baseball today.
The Padres are headed to Surprise today to face Texas. Cha Seung Baek gets the start today and will face Ian Kinsler, Michael Young, Josh Hamilton and Hank Blalock.
That doesn’t sound fun, especially in that bandbox.
Morning notes: Right fielder Brian Giles (left quad strain) will run this morning to test out his hamstring. Manager Bud Black said he would know more by the end of today’s game. There is a good chance Giles could play Friday. … Pitcher Walter Silva (ankle sprain) is still having pain issues and might be looked at by team physicians on Friday. There’s no timetable as to when he’ll be able to resume pitching bullpen sessions.
Here’s the lineup for today:
CF, Will Venable
2B, David Eckstein
DH, Cliff Floyd
3B, Kevin Kouzmanoff (first start in the field this spring)
LF, Chase Headley
RF, Emil Brown
1B, Kyle Blanks
C, Eliezer Alfonzo
SS, Luis Rodriguez
SP, Cha Seung Baek
