Up next: The True Blue Brew Crew …

Another sun-splashed day in Peoria today where the Milwaukee Brewers face the Padres and will do so, apparently, with a lineup that includes such regulars as Corey Hart, Prince Fielder and Jason Kendall.

In case you’re wondering, former Padres closer Trevor Hoffman, now with the Brewers, is not scheduled to pitch today and, from what I understand, won’t make many road trips away from Maryvale. Jeff Suppan starts for the Brewers.

As always, I’ll have some notes from our morning gathering with manager Bud Black a little bit later but for now, here are those lineups:

CF, Jody Gerut
2B, Chris Burke
DH, Cliff Floyd
LF, Emil Brown
1B, Kyle Blanks
RF, Drew Macias (filling in for Brian Giles, strained left quad)
C, Eliezer Alfonzo
3B, Travis Denker
SS, Everth Cabrera
SP, Josh Geer (two innings)

Today’s pitchers: Geer 2, Latos 1, Ramos 1, Schmidt 1, Ryu 1, Carrillo 1, Nova 1 and Buschmann 1.

Morning notes: Brian Giles was scratched this morning due to a strained left quad. Manager Bud Black said he’s not concerned and that there’s no reason to push things with still one month of Cactus League play.

Cheers, Corey

It will be really interesting to play the Brewers…I was afraid that Trevor was scheduled to pitch against us! I’m glad he’s not, but it would have been really interesting if he did. GO PADRES!!
